Balls of Yarn (Brownstein/Amarante)

Lily smuggled balls of yarn untangled and untamed

Like memories she can't recall compounded in her name

I'm spinning in her knitting through the thoughts that she remakes

But broken words get broken in and worn without a break

Endlessly the ending earth is glowing when you rise

Dawning in the dreams of old and ancient in your eyes

Our time is tied to wonder we have wondered where to find

It's coy and it is cautious, it's daring, brave, and bold

We're falling with the sands of time, though time is getting old

And even when the world is mean

and cold and all alone

We will be your ball of yarn

We will take you home

She radiates the dancing rays of shadows stained with light

To gather in the blinding dark the animals of night

They're worn within in the laughter she projects within her life

It's rapturous and stagnant, it's perilous and kind

Inscribed without the sight supposed unseeing and unblind

She learns to string the shrouded pride a promise can convey

It's solid and accented in the thoughts that go astray

With voice abound to echo, her words are made aware

The storied yarn she smuggled west is love she learns to wear

And even when the world is mean

and cold and all alone

We will be your ball of yarn

We will take you home
