Broken Bluff (Brownstein/Amarante)

I’m all spun around, I don’t know which way is up

I’ve got an angle to play, I’m near the end of a rut

There’s no conditional change, it’s just my lingering luck

The better wins best when they’ve just broken a bluff

I came to hunger the hit, I stayed to savor the stand

I keep my foot on the gas, but I can brake on command

I’m almost right where I want, although most nothing was planned

I learned to breathe in the smoke of the flames that were fanned

It’s just my luck, I’ve been fooled by my own bluff

I’ve been fooled enough by my own bluff

I’m at the brink of the break, I feel excited to be

It’s so incredibly clear-- it’s almost blinding to see

Sometimes the long for a lock will unlock more than the key

The break of a bluff is a mirror to me

Just at the spring of a run, I’m at the break of a bend

I’m to the parting of ways, upon the start of the end

I think I’ve been here before, the days are starting to blend

It just takes one twist of fate to help to tailor a trend.

It’s just my luck, I’ve been fooled by my own bluff

And I can smooth out the rough, if I start to give it up

And I’ve been fooled enough by my own luck

It seems I’ve ventured too far, I found the start of the maze

The walls rise up to the clouds, I’m in the midst of a daze

This is the close of the act, I'm in the fade of a phase

But, the hero’s loved more as their armor decays

Well fuck,

It’s just my luck, I’ve been fooled by my own bluff

And I can smooth out the rough, if I just start to give it up

And I can pour out my guts, but I think I’ve already said enough
