Letter To Myself (Brownstein)

I’m writing you to tell you the things I wish I could

There are so many things I would have done if I only understood

The things that people were telling you were all in some way true

But the whole time you thought that you already knew

That time that things went wrong you thought it couldn’t get any worse

But then something else happened, you fell so hard that it hurt

Each time you get up you think it won’t happen to me again

Well maybe not to you but maybe to your friend

And you can’t go back

But you can show that

Lessons have been learned

To become the person that you have earned

Sure don’t sit around and wait take life on by the day

But things will only happen in their own way

Don’t be afraid to ask for things you want, impossible they may seem

With a little patience, a conversation, life becomes the dream

So just breath

Breath deep

There’s things in life you can’t control

I know you’ve heard this everyday of growing old

But sometimes you’ve heard that voice in your head too many times

That you start to tune it out later down the line

I’m not saying I’ve got it figured out

I needed to hear this then as much as I do now

Take the time, take care of your mind, leave the past behind

Look towards the future and beauty you will find

And you can’t go back

But you can show that

Lessons have been learned

To become the person that you have earned
