Angry footsteps charged up the mountain side. Blue took to the ready, and stood with Agatha between him and the Fountain. When the riders from Anthracite arrived upon the peak, they wore masks to conceal their faces, and to cover themselves from the Fountain’s mist. Blue could smell their fear as they approached, shouting in anger.
A familiar voice peaked out from the back of the group. “Blue! Come back with us, and we can end this cycle.” The remaining riders quelled their commands.
Blue stepped aside to reveal the ailing Agatha. “We’ll come peacefully. But Agatha, she is not doing well. She sipped the fountain, and now she’s in shock.”
Knowing that Agatha would emerge anew, the lead rider brandished a rifle. “The horse must be put down.” He shot Agatha square in the side, and she let out a scream. The force knocked her back, and she fell into the water. Her blood began to pool in the Fountain, but the current forced her out of sight and downstream. She would never be seen again.
Blue was consumed by the deepest feeling of rage, as if a dark energy had taken control of his body. Each step he took created a fissure in the earth, and his breath grew cold. Blue let out a low roar, and his eyes began to glow orange. He charged at the riders, attacking them until only one was left alive. The man laid still on the ground, his face no longer concealed. It was Waylon.
