10. Voice of Them All
Blue embraced his mother one final time and took a deep breath. He held her close but the feeling was closer. “Goodbye for now, mother. I’ll see you downstream” Blue walked slowly down the riverside until the grass gave way to dirt and the dirt dried into dust. The Wild River was nothing more than a barren bed, no longer a place for dreams. However, when Blue looked around at the red sandstone rocks, he smiled. He let himself run wild through the warm desert air.
Lifetimes have come and passed, so how exactly the Mostrenco arrived at their fate has been up for debate. Some say they fell to Anthracite, others to their own volition. But without Blue, it’s widely known that Anthracite was no longer able to stay in control for too long. They succumbed to the vacuum of power that followed in their wake. Legend says that Blue is the last of his kind, still stampeding around the bluffs and buttes, seeking a fountain in the desert mountains that is no longer there.
Voice of Them All
They say a devil walks the long road of wreckage and ruin
Rising when the sun sets and swallowing the moon
You can hear him coming from a thousand years away
They say we got to stop him but we say it’s far too late
Oh Blue
They had it all wrong about you
They had it all wrong about you
Used to be a fountain full of wonder and wisdom
You tried to share the wealth but the herd wouldn’t listen
They decried you a liar afraid of the truth
Now their canyon has crumbled and they let you loose
Oh Blue
They had it all wrong about you
They had it all wrong about you
They had it all wrong about you
They had it all wrong about you
