Shells (Brownstein/Battat)

Forgotten are the festivals that break the silent spells

But we’re surprised to hear the lies that no one tells

And can I be forgiven for the secrets that I spilled

Even if it means that my best friend won’t be killed?

I’d fake a fib to save a life, I’d even do it twice

Cause we all know that just our thoughts are enough to entice

The hidden meaning to reveal when the time is right

But thoughts we overcome as we go into the night

Wherever we are I’m sure we’re here

Shaped by the wind the endless year

The stories unheard unfold to tell

The reasons why we left our shells

Ship full of captains with no direction in sight

The bird must first fall before he takes flight

The journey is long, the road will be tough

Fields of green, dreams encased by the rough

And even though the end is near I’ll still carry on

Through the mud that keeps me here and will remember when I’m gone

The start of something I can’t explain

The root of all the those things I blame

Now the chance to begin again

Things will happen I just don’t know when

Wherever we are I’m sure we’re here

Shaped by the wind the endless year

The stories unheard unfold to tell

The reasons why we left our shells
