Solid Ground (Brownstein)

I think I’d like to take it slow

But I’m still learning to be flexible

Some things I don’t need to know

Some things I’m still trying to let go

Remember we’d imagine

We’d do things just because of passion

Our dreams so close we could grab them

So why would we settle for habits?

A mind tends to wander places you don’t want to go

When you keep asking questions with the answers that you’ve known

Reflex and reject only increases the weight

Escape and erase instead of finding other ways to say

I keep running round, my dear old mind

I keep running ‘round and running ‘round again all the time

I need to slow it down, reach some solid ground

Take those mistakes and start to make the space for change, turn around

Just relax, everybody pays some kind of tax

Not always sure how to pay it back

But I’ll endure it just to find out what comes next

Worry never did me well

All those stories that my brain would tell

I’m thankful for the laughter

That always comes after

We open up the bottled feelings hiding in the fridge

It’s okay to talk about the people that we miss

We don’t have to be scared if we listen

We can be deepening the friendship not deepening the pit

I keep running round, my dear old mind

I keep running ‘round and running ‘round again all the time

I need to slow it down, reach some solid ground

Take those mistakes and start to make the space for change, turn around
