All The Way Down (Shadow Pt. 2) (Brownstein, Amarante)

Shadow, what’s the matter, you seem scarcer on the wall

Your other half is lighter and I can’t see it at all

Paint some kind a contrast I can photograph and frame

With a copy of a copy I’ll be timid and stay tame

It seems as though there’s something I can’t fully comprehend

Almost like the world is made of pieces of pretend

If the light is not refracted, do the puppets fear the flames?

If I turned to meet my maker, would my Shadow look the same?

My Shadow stands in front of me

I wonder what it would be like if I could turn to leave

Shadow you’re so strange to see

I wonder what it would be like, just to look behind your light

Is it true that there’s a truth in everything that’s true?

I’ve been looking in the mirror, but the meaning won’t come through?

If you truly have a secret, Shadow, now’s the time to tell

I think I might be standing up to peek behind the veil

In the world behind the curtain, the sky is true and bright

My shadow comes through stronger when I learn to see the light

I’m over looking for closure in a life with time to live

Oh just to feel closer to the love I try to give

I bounced around for ages searching for a deeper form

Seeking out the start of a trail that never warmed

Every time I fight my shadow I’m reminded of the light

Shadow, I’ll sure miss you in the dark depths of the night.

My Shadow stands in front of me

I wonder what it would be like if I could turn to leave

Shadow you’re so strange to see

I wonder what it would be like, just to look behind your light
