Waiting (Brownstein/Battat)

Shifting my sensation from elation to despair

I get turned round too quickly but I’m too caught up to care

I’m starting now to get a grip while I’m simultaneously slipping

It’s all that I know

A peek in my perspective is a fairly familiar sight

We’re both reflective of the absence and the light

Sometimes it’s that space in your heart that can make you whole

You just made room for a better mood that’s good for your soul

I can’t keep waiting

For something to change

It won’t work around here

Yeah all our hopes and fears

Is what has made our vision so clear, so now

It’s just up to us

A promise to ourselves to never give up

This isn’t a dream that we need to wake up from

Just look back, see how far we’ve come

A creature of habit some of my friends would say

I spread myself thin so often that at the end of every day

I stop myself in motion just to gather what I spilled

Sometimes life moves in slow motion to get you over the hill

And all this time I’m taking to push myself ahead

I can’t help but think about the things I could be doing instead

But there’s no other option only obstacles and oh

The many more memories that I’ll be thankful for

I can’t keep waiting

For something to change

It won’t work around here

Yeah all our hopes and fears

Is what has made our vision so clear, so now

It’s just up to us

A promise to ourselves to never give up

This isn’t a dream that we need to wake up from

Just look back, see how far we’ve come

Waiting

Always just waiting

I can’t keep waiting

For something to change

Waiting

Always just waiting

I can’t keep waiting

For something to change

It won’t work around here

Yeah all our hopes and fears

Is what has made our vision so clear, so now

It’s just up to us

A promise to ourselves to never give up

This isn’t a dream that we need to wake up from

Just look back, see how far we’ve come
